So, here's what I've been working on for so long X3
I figured it'd be fun to see where I'd come after such a long time. Those of you who've been watching me for a while will remember this scene from way back when http://www.furaffinity.net/view/909306/
You'll notice I've put them all in the shiny new armor I designed for them =^-^= it's not all there, but this is pretty much the final version for now and I'm very proud of the outcome.
The ship design has also gotten a bit of an update and I've also finally settled on a style of architecture for si'itians ^^ I'll explain all the little techy details another time/on questioning.
Not much of a backstory for this, except it's the Orians making trouble again and these gentlemen (and the lady) need to sort it all out again. The sceptical fellow seems to have come in contact with a 24th century 4chaner, so for all those of you who hang around in the pop-culture corners, your heritage will still live in 2300 ;b
Anyway, time for me to go to bed for tonight :3 can't promise regular updates still, but I'm home and I have access to my arting equipment now, so maybe with a bit of luck...

The ears are a stiff and don't need to bend save at the helmet joint. The neck needs to be free for extended mobility. I'll admit it's a little very open, but any variation I tried on putting armor there just looked weird :/ I guess I'll figure it out some time, just like I did with tail-armor, but for now it's just gonna remain like this
Thanks for the reply. And I feel like an ass for bringing it up. But I love your designs, and have a thing for armour, so I couldn't help bringing it up.
Perhaps it could be part of an evolving technology? The first British tanks were very effective, but they had serious design flaws - for instance, the driver had to look through an open slot in the armour, which of course allowed the enemy to shoot him. It was only later that periscopes and armoured glass were incorporated to solve this problem.

When I first saw this I had to do a double take, for a sec I thought you where just re-uploading the original again. After reading your description though, and looking at the original, it was instantly clear it wasn't the original, and it was also clear, how much better your art has gotten.
Heh, yeah, I can see how that might be confusing at first, but that's why I added the 2011 in the title X3 even if that doesn't necessarily give it a way at first glance. Shows I managed to capture the originals aesthetic enought o make it recognizable though, which is good =^-^= I'm glad you enjoy it! :3
Sorry. I got that line from "Red Limit Freeway." A series of science fiction stories by John DeChanche which were about an intergalactic truck driver and his rig. He was required to wear a helmet that gave him holographic displays of the roadway for a few AUs or so, but he complained the darn thing bothered his eyes.
No real Halo look anymore, but then there's no real look to anything, you can technically argue that any sort of body armor is just generic body armor now, cuz almost every game as some form of it X3
I'll admit to trying to bring it around to something more mudlar at some point, but I've begun to flesh out my own style on certain aspects :3

The surface of the armor can adapt to it's background, which is how the two faces are shown without taking off the helmets. The insignia 'can' be shown on the surface, but is generally not displayed unless there's HUD IFF failures to not mark officers for the enemy. If you wear a suit, your HUD would display rank insignias for you next to the IFF tags, names and data, depending on what you set it to show.
At first glance, I assumed that the two soldiers with visible faces had removed their helmet face-plates, but it seems that the helmets are still intact. Did the faceplates turn transparent, or are their surfaces just functioning as displays, giving a multi-angled look at the wearer's face?
I'm curious in regards to the grade of weaponry and gear. I'm a newer fan, so alot of the older reference material, if it exists, is unknown to me, and thus my curiosity is peaked.
What is your armor inspired by? The chest pieces seem very remenescent of the Halo chest pieces with the long, wide open neck and chest slits in the plating itself to provide mobility, while the arm armor Either Reminds me of the WH40K Carapace armor, or possibly the Mass Effect styled shoulder/arm armor.
As for their specs, I'm currious on that too! The armor does appear to have 'power' of some sorts, but appears to be no where near as bulky as most conceived 'power' armor. Is it a simple kevlar or equivalent material weave for protection as the Hardplate armor with power to tactical feeds and IFF indicators, or is it a thin layer of artifical muscles to enhance the soldiers, or any other number of possibilities?
For the weapons, the bodies look like they are inspired by the well known FN P90, with the man on the right's optical sight possibly influenced FN F2000's integral optics sight.
So many possibilities, so many questions, and I would dearly appreciate any and all explanations, or a link to previous explanations XD

To answer your questions on the armor.
The original older style had a few more curves in it and was inspired by this piece from the WH40k 4thEd SM Codex. Actually a lot of my aesthetics come from the original warhammer illustrations, while my designs try to take a more practical, clean approach.
As for the actual specifications of the armor here’s the fluff for the old suits, but I’m gonna say in advance, these are outdated and are gonna be getting a major overhaul with the proper introduction of the new suits.
Upgrades and additional information include, but aren’t limited to; waste management, nutrition and oxygen supply, body energy as a charge source for the suit systems and more, so stay tuned for when I finally get to do that.
Weapons are inspired by all sorts of source material, but the original guns were inspired by the assault rifles of the landmates from Appleseed. Here’s what I have on the standard issue rifle. The other weapons are based on other principles and I’ve been working on new designs for other weapons as well, to flesh things out a bit.
Hope that satisfies you for now.

Reminds me of space opera... A certain campaign where we essentially had a huge faux paus of agencies. A murder happened in a space port to an ambassador still under space fleet protection from an apparent interstellar drug cartel fighting over an illegal drug shipment. The characters happened to be planet's CIA (BOSS), Port Authorities (PPF), Space Forces command investigation, and Interstellar Police Agency (IPA)... There were many long 'debates' done as all the agencies grinded for dominance while relentlessly hunting the criminals who in turn tried to kill us at every turn. >_>
Nice scene :3
The look of those armours is grand. But I am mostly impressed the fasct that there are six of them. I would never push myself to do something like this as drawing repeatable stuff gives me a lot of pain.
And everytime I see a scene with a holo projector my brain automaticly displays the scene from SouthPark movie, you know which one xD

Thanks. That's kind of what I figured. One last thing, are those little triangle shapes on their shoulders ammo cells, shield generators, or some kind of fast react countermeasure, like on tanks. I see them and I'm like, that's interesting. That shape seems to be used a bit on their armor.
Hindsight, it could just as easily be a cover for whatever secures their armor in place, and can be remove as needed.

Heh, you're actually the first one to ask X3 I've actually extended their layout to some other areas as well. They're sort of emergency response counter measures for close quarters. They're essentially falt shotgun shells that are meant to disorient or wound enemies that get too close, are in a superior position or physically ambush guardsmen at close range. I've extended the suit systems to include kill munitions as well, but they're not showcased here yet.
