Salvaging spacecraft is dangerous business. You never know what exactly you'll find, whether it's an abandoned husk or a stranded vessel with survivors, or a pirate trap.

This is why most salvaging crew have a group of men and women who's sole purpose is to clear the entire ship before any technicians come aboard. Heavily armed and armored, they make sure that any active defenses the ship might have on auxiliary power, or violently territorial crewmembers are subdued.

Despite the sound of this, salvagers aren't generally violent, but due to the nature of their operations they are usually met with hostility when the boardside is unprepared. Salvaging crew must record their operations for proof footage, in case any survivors are injured or killed, to justify their actions aboard the alien craft.

I've put a lot of background into salvaging rights and regulations and such and their general reputation with the rest of the Galaxy, but I think I'll lay that out another time, unless you guys really want me to :3
