Yosh's mom and dad had an emergency and, as a result, had to drop the little guy off with the only person available at the time. In this case, it was Mr. O'Ducky's close friend, Lance.

Mr. O'Ducky tried to explain the ropes of taking care of a toddler, but was in such a hurry that it came out more like jibberish than instructions. No matter. Lance was a true and faithful friend and up to the challenge.

As the night went on, Lance did everything he believed a good parental figure would do for a tyke. Gave him chips, soda, and allowed him to play some of the cartoony video games that he had on his video game system. It was a swell night.

Eventually, long past Yosh's bedtime, the little guy began to tucker out and cry for his mommy. Not wanting to trouble the O'Ducky's during their emergency situation, Lance did what he knew to do from all the Romantic Comedies he had seen. So, in as calm a way as he could, he picked up little Yosh and snuggled him against his soft, feathery chest. As he did, he patted at Yosh's fluffy bottom and rocked about slowly from side-to-side. It wasn't long before Yosh's crying stopped and the little dino-duck began to ease himself into Lance's chest.

Excited at how well he was doing, Lance couldn't resist but to continue carassing the little dino-duck. With each movement of his hand over the little guy's soft belly, scaly head, warm nappy, and sturdy beak, Yosh giggled and wriggled with delight. It made Lance feel proud as he never thought he had it in him to be a daddy.

"D'aww." he said as paternal instinct took over. After another session of gentle rubs about Yosh's body, he elected to bend down and give him a gentle kiss on the tummy. This made Yosh giggle even more as he buried himself even deeper into Lance's soft, warm, feathery chest.

After delighting in making Yosh happy from all the loving touches, kisses, and nuzzles, Lance decided it was time to put the little dino duck to bed.

"Okay," he said as he rolled the tyke into his bed. Knowing how babies love plushies, he thought it would be a super swell idea to give Yosh his 3 foot tall, yellow Yoshi plush to snuggle. Sure enough, Yosh took to it and seemed to almost bond with the toy as he wrapped his arms and legs around it and rolled about until he got into just the right comfortable spot.

Seeing all this cuddling and softness made Lance start to feel tired, too. He also didn't think it was a good idea to leave Yosh alone in his room. After all, he had a lot of valuables kept in there that a tot would easily make short work of.

So, after fetching the cordless phone and setting it on his bedstand, Lance crawled into bed with the slumberling dino-duck. He even went as far as to wrap his arm around the little guy so that he could feel loved and cared for in his sleep by someone in the absence of his parents.

From here, Lance gave Yosh one final bedtime kiss before allowing the cozy cuteness to overcome him and drag him into slumberland as well. Yosh's parents called 2 hours later to let Lance know everything was okay and that they could come get Yosh. However, seeing how happy the little guy was, Lance told the O'Ducky's to not worry about it. After all, it was fun to care for a little guy and even better to enjoy the love only being a parent can bring.
