The blazing sun and blue skies seen around my part of the world at the very end of September. Temperatures hovered around 80 °F for several days, way above average for the time of year. This photo was taken in the Devil's Spittleful Nature Reserve between Bewdley and Kidderminster.

You could be right, though I don't think it's known absolutely for certain what the origin of the name is. What it refers to, though, is a big sandstone outcrop in an otherwise fairly flat area of sandy heathland. You can climb up it, and the views from the top are... well, mostly trees. =:P But not bad!
