This almighty spider's web -- which, with its "guy ropes", spanned the entire garden -- looked wonderful in the early morning sunlight. I'd have preferred to have kept the house out of shot, but I couldn't do that and still have the sunbeams, which are after all the most striking aspect of the picture. Sorry, I have no idea what species the spider is. =:P

Oh, wow. Spider webs are always so pretty, and I love those moments when you can catch them like this, with the sunlight shining through them. It's amazing how intricate they are, and how something so delicate to us can still be strong enough to not only support the spider, but snag their prey. I could have got a really good shot of one, myself a few days ago, with rain drops shining on it, if only the battery in the camera hadn't been dead. My luck.
I don't think the inclusion of the house hurts the picture at all. Sometimes it's kind of nice to be reminded of the role that wildlife plays in our day to day lives, and it's a really pretty shot overall.
