It's on a stand. Look to the lower right where the blast shield is. There's a handle and trigger, and to the right is part of the stand. On the far left, you have a stand holding up the gas tank, and then a padded shoulder brace next to that. It's smaller than it looks in this picture I know, I was going for perspective on this one.
I need to draw this one in action is what I need to do I guess,

Never got that far in DOOM but I loved the movie! (kids thought it was sooo fake though ((so hard to impress childrens these days)) )

This weapon's effect is a bit different than the BFG was protrayed. If you're as big of a nerd as me, think of Gayos's breath weapon from the old Gamera movies.

It's not so much the DOOM weapon, as it's one of the most cleverly used acronyms in videogame history.
