Description of the process:
In this work, I aimed to convey an atmosphere of silence and light sadness. The painting is executed in the technique of digital oil painting with an emphasis on soft lighting and grainy textures.
The use of brushes with imitation of traditional materials helped to create the effect of an old postcard or an illustration for a classic fairy tale. I paid special attention to the character's gaze and the combination of muted blue tones of the background with warm pink accents of flowers.
A brief backstory of the character:
Olivia is the owner of a small flower shop in an old neighborhood that always smells of rain and sealing wax. She rarely speaks out loud, preferring to express her feelings through the bouquets she collects for passersby.
Her wide-brimmed hat is her way of hiding from the hustle and bustle of the world, and the pink flowers in her hands are said to never wilt as long as she keeps her little secret. Olivia believes that every flower has a soul, and sometimes in the evenings, she softly sings old lullabies to them.
