“Hey, calm down” Zeph said softly as he gently placed a paw on Nzuri’s shoulder. “Slowly, remember? Breathe in… Three heartbeats… Breathe out… Six heartbeats…”. For a moment his little sister seemed to want to argue, but they had been through this too often. To his relief she listened.
It had been a while since Nzuri had last suffered from this. Zeph looked at her worriedly, but his concern turned out to be unwarranted. Having barely caught her breath, the young lioness charged him again, butting her head against his shoulder. “Don’t belittle me, Zephyrus!” she growled, but Zeph thought he heard a note of gratitude in her voice.
