Stranger in the night
A sound suddenly broke through the silence. The snap of a branch, otherwise insignificant but in the absence of any other sound it was like a thunderclap. The little cub froze. The safety of his den was close, but even there, would he be safe without his mother? Perhaps if he didn’t move, didn’t make a sound, whatever was out there wouldn’t interfere with his wish to see the sparkling lights.
