I have ridden out of evenings
that clung to me like old regrets,
down roads that curled and uncurled
like a thought I could not finish.
The engine murmured its low confession,
a warm animal beneath me,
breathing in time with the pulse
I had forgotten was mine.
There are moments when the world
is a corridor of blurred hedgerows,
a trembling ribbon of dusk,
and I am nothing but motion —
a figure unstitched from the day’s demands,
leaning into the wind
as if it might absolve me.
And somewhere between the gears,
between the hum and the hollow,
a phrase returns —
not spoken, not sung,
but rising like a half‑remembered dare:
go further… further still…
a ghost‑echo urging the self
toward some unseen horizon.
For healing is not a destination
but a distance measured in miles,
in the soft collapse of thought
beneath the helmet’s quiet dark.
It is the road that forgives first,
the road that listens longest,
the road that whispers
that the limit was never a line
but a veil —
thin enough to ride through
if the heart is willing.
So I ride.
Not to arrive,
but to dissolve the weight of staying still.
To let the night take what it can,
and return me lighter,
carved clean by wind and motion,
reborn in the slow unwinding
of the miles behind me.

I've never done pedal pumping, so, that's interesting! But! I do love my cars and motorbikes~
