SAY WHAT! Is Shiny in the "The Super Mario Galaxy Movie"?! =O
Hahaha, just kidding, dudes. Thought like it felt fitting to share this one close to the premiere release of the second Mario movie. I look forward to watch it myself soon enough yet. Three years ago with the "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" I exited the first of the now two animated Mario movies produced by Illumination with a wide grin on my face. The Marioverse is something I hold in high regards and find has a huge bunch of fun characters. The movie back then showcased elements of several of the Mario games and introduced Mario and Luigi in their classic roles as plumbers, putting focus mostly on Mario who in his aim for approval and independence involves his brother in a row of situations that lead them to stumble across the hidden-below-Brooklyn warp pipe that whisks them away to the world of the Mushroom Kingdom. As they get separated in the accidental transportation, Mario makes it his goal to rescue his brother, gets to meet Toad and Princess Peach, who join him to get Luigi out of the clutches of the power-hungry king of the Koopas Bowser. On the way Mario has to overcome various challenges like that of a rivalry with Donkey Kong, and prove himself to grow (not only through the use of power-ups) and reunite with his brother.
The movie had in my opinion loads of charm, and to me is still a fun ride whenever I get to watch it. I can definitely understand that fans of especially Luigi might have been sad that he had less time inside the overall adventure, but I found myself cheering for both him and Mario through and through when each of them got to stand in for one another. It was really sweet in so many points overall.
The new movie is a direct sequel which promises to feature Yoshi and a bunch of other characters that haven't been seen in the first movie. Yoshi actually appeared in a post-credit-scene of the first movie as an egg, and it was definitely exciting to have pretty much a prospect for a sequel at the time already.
Things that excite me already about the movie:
1. More showcases of those likable characters interacting, getting to use power-ups, simply being expressive!
I have watched various Mario related media in the past from the Super Mario Bros. Super Show to the Bob Hoskins live-action film to even the Japanese anime shorts. That alongside a bunch of amusing fanmade projects and video game cutscenes, they all just wake the desire to see those colorful worlds and fun characters being animated more often. The ideas and concepts connected to them are simply still very fun and fantastic to me which makes me already curious what might going to appear.
2. It is going to look great and sound terrific!
Personal bias here: I thought they did a splendid job in the first movie with the locations and character expressions. The soundtrack was a lot of fun and I want to believe that this isn't going to be less in the new movie. I'm ready to re-visit the stars like in "Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2" or "Super Mario Odyssey" to name a few examples.
3. Yoshi will surely be a cute fellow (my Reptile-bias)
People likely know me well enough by now, knowing of how much I tend to enjoy all Reptilian animated characters a bunch. Yoshi in a way was one of my entry-characters for my joy of cartoon Reptiles and even predates Totodile by quite a margin. I used to doodle about from looking into magazines that had Yoshi images in them, and trying to trace them or attempt drawing. Yoshi is probably one if not my favorite of the Mario bunch and when thinking of the giddy Dinodragon joining into the new movie adventure, I cannot but feel giddy myself, hehe.
Anyways, I thank Cherry for her lovely drawing of Shiny in this iconic reimagining of the Super Mario Galaxy promotional art. The flying around between the planet has been a fun and dreamy, adventurous and exciting element in the original video game and still holds up with the twinkling stars scattered around, the sometimes wacky shape of orbits, seeing meteors and even spaceships flying about. Cherry gave Shiny a trversal between various planets rendered in cloud-like nebulas, and aside from the twinkling stars Shiny can go on a jolly treasure hunt for gold coins while soaring through the lapis-lazuli shining cosmos.
It's a totodily fun illustration andI am sure if some of you would pop up in a Luigi, Peach or even Bowser costume, SHiny would likely be eager to join you for a playful floating game of tag.
In that spirit with a brotherly Totohug attached I wish you all a lovely start into April and of course
Happy Totodile's Day! (-^.=.^-)

Hi Scott! Hope you are well.
Shiny likes most sparkling, big and wonderful things, so twinkling stars, the moon and faroff planets are exciting for Shiny. Trailing around like a comet just like Mario and friends surely sounds like a fun adventure with a nice view. X3

Oh, shiny things, yush. ✨
Shiny likes most things that shimmer or reflect light in a nice way. Whether it's justa shiny pebble or an actual crystal, a metallic chain or gold leaf. That also includes things like balloons or other things of rubber, vinyl and foil which can look pretty when stretched and inflated. Shiny thinks they are all neat. Occasionally Shiny even enjoys the idea of having shiny paints and glitter on himself. Might be because his own Reptilian scales tend to look a little reflective and shiny here and there and he appreciates that.

Im really happy to read that you really liked the first movie and i hope xou will really like the sequel. Sequels towards Mario stuff sadly tends to be really bad. Mario Bros 2 is very hated, New Super Mario Bros 2 is very hated, Mario & Rabbids 2 is very hated, Mario & Luigi 2 is disliked (for no reasons), Mario Kart 2 is disliked.
I hope the Movie aint like this

Ah, even if people might dislike something doesn't mean you can't still enjoy it yourself. I generally think a bunch of my tastes tend to differ with the wider demographic here and there.
But that said, I actually enjopyed a bunch of Mario's second-time outings in many occasions. And there are also some sequels that add a lot of greatness, too. Like Super Mario Land 2 for example expands the world and themes drastically. To many people Mario Party 2 created the definitive experience that the first game introduced and added ideas like the character costumes for all the game boards. and items. Mario Golf's successor when looked at either the Game Boy Color title or the GameCube successor Toadstool Tour added so much extra content and are some of the alltime favorites in the sub-franchise. Super Mario Galaxy 2 added Yoshi and various playful ideas for more level, too.
I will hopefully watch the movie soon enough and have a fun time with it. =3

The brief trailer from its announcement and images of Yoshi definitely get me excited. Yoshi is one of the first few characters I practiced drawing with after stopping to simply transfer book images through parchment paper. If I hadn't have such a history with Totodile, I could likely have arrived here as a Yoshidude, haha.
Ah, I try not to be distant, I swear. Sometimes daily duties and family matters just eat away at my spare time and I quickly end up back in my bed finishing off another day earlier than expected. I feel happy over all the kind shared words I have received whenever I return back online. I don't plan to stop being active at any point and I am happy over every exchange or when Shiny is lucky to hang out with more fellow characters in the community. ^_^
