Vesuvius Y was Italy's Entry into the World Robot Expo when it was stolen by the Iron Alliance and became the Monster of the Week in the 9th Episode of Super Robot Red Baron: "Fierce Gambit: Uranium Mine in the Mist". This episode finally provides the face reveal of Dr. Deviler, who until then was kept in the shadow, his hands covering his face when giving orders, close ups on the eye level, or back view.
History
Multiple Hikers are found murdered in the woods of Kibogahara and Kumano's one lead is a Badge with the name of a Miner, Morita found in one of the bodies. Despite not getting answers from the Inspector, Mari and Daisaku report to Daigo who concludes this has to do with Uranium been mined in the area and SSI investigates, while Kumano having his suspicions, disguises as a Hippie though he encounters Daisuke and the kids in the middle of a fog, only surprised by Iron Alliance Robot Soldiers: Kumano battles them allowing the Kids to escape and find SSI and inform of the situation, but only find the carnage of scrapped Robot Soldiers (he is not the MC, why?).
Kumano reaches the mine where he finds a worker with the same type of Badge, and after identification and attempt to arrest, the Miner resist, but soon discovers their other miners with the name and is surrounded and captured.
Meanwhile, SSI is spotted by the villains and Vesuvius Y is called in and fires its laser at them, forcing Ken to call in Red Baron. However, the laser barrage is too much for the Mecha and Red Baron topples over after stepping into one of the underground tunnels, almost getting buried; meanwhile, SSI deals with Robot Soldiers, during which, the group sneak into one of the mines to investigate, where they find Kumano tied up, but continued to battle the Enemy, while Vesuvius covers Baron with mist, which it proceeds to smack down under the cover of it.
Red Baron begins to spin like a tornado, allowing it to remove the Mist Cover, exposing Vesuvius; Ken then uses Baron Punch to knock out the mecha, allowing it to dispose of it with Elec-Trigger. Ken then turns his attention to the Iron Commander, killing him with Baron Punch before he could do harm to his SSI comrades. Deviler, in his first face reveal of the show, vows revenge for the defeat.
Later, the group takes a well deserve vacation at a hotel, where they enjoy a time in the pool.

What I really like about this episode in particular is the main fight/action scene in the last third with the SSI theme jamming at full length and we get to see the individual members' unique fighting style: Daisaku Horii, while not the most skilled fighter, uses his environment to his advantage and is something of a wild card; Tetsuya Sakai is a skill martial artist using more acrobatic techniques(backflips and whatnot), Mari Matsubara is an expert with the lariat; and their captain Daigo is more about the grappling/wrestling moves than the others. And of course there's Ken, who pilots the robot.
