every time I'm entering the "category" section when posting to FA I think to myself "gee, this really is all just digital art, isn't it?" but it wasn't always just digital art! When I was sixteen, I used to do some sculpting as a hobby, and I consider this my greatest sculpture. This was made a couple years ago, but I'm still super proud of it so I thought I would post it here.
This is my comfort oc Sakana, or as she's been renamed, "Douser", she's had the name Douser longer than Sakana, the reason why I'm calling her Sakana in the title and most the description is because this sculpture is actually of her very first design from 2020 instead of her revamp, which was outdated by years when I first made the sculpture!. (damn.... That design will be six years old soon.... Same age as I was when I first got into Skylanders.... weird to think about.)
when I was a kid, I was obsessed with Skylanders, and although I didn't bring my Skylanders over to friends houses that often (we'd just play on each others saves with each others collections) I do remember playing with my Skylanders toys outside quite often. So because of which I like to do lots of macrophotography of my Skylanders figures to remember that time in my childhood. I don't do it so much anymore, but something about Sakana in these beautiful nature scenes makes me so happy. I seriously cannot tell you guys the level of joy it brings me to have this dumb little sculpture of my oc in my room.
Oh, you might of noticed that the base of the figure is an actual Skylanders base, one from trap team to be precise. Which Skylander did I mutilate? Gill Runt! I had two of them (one from each of the double packs they had in trap team, no I don't own any of the sidekick variants) so I had my online friends vote on which one would perish. They decided on the one with slightly less saturated paint. I covered the figure in fake blood and used it to write "You did this" after their votes were cast, I like morbid humour lol.
I remember figures being hard to remove from their base at first, but it's actually pretty easy. Just heat it up with a hair dryer and use scissors to cut it. Doesn't even need to be any sharp scissors, I use those dull ones you probably used in school when you were a kid. You can also use pliers.
might post collages to document my history on social media, honestly. I like FA because it's similar to DeviantArt, but where DeviantArt has like, my entire online history on it (even the parts from other socials are talked about or advertised on there from when they were relevant) it would be nice to have simple post to go over year by year of what happened. Would anyone be interested in reading that?
