I too was afraid of getting my face in the water when I was young. Hard to believe, doing all the things I've done up to 33m under the surface now!

I was also afraid of water because of the floods in my neighborhood, the current, and the dirty water... but little by little I overcame that fear, first learning to swim, then looking for places to do it (lakes, marshes, streams, and finally the river), and I ended up diving on my own, many years before getting my open water diver certification... I still dream of going deeper than 18 meters and receiving more training!
