We have arrived at our next stop on our voyage of getting my Poke Girl OC Mikaela dressed up as a grunt for every Pokemon Villain team cruise. In a manner of speaking. I say that because in this pic I got Mikaela dressed as a member of Team Yell from Sword and Shield who aren’t necessary a “traditional” Pokemon villain team. Rather they are, to put it bluntly, toxic sports fans. There whole thing is that they were this group originally created to be super supportive fans of Marie while she partook in Galar’s gym challenge only to take their support of her a little two far and ended up becoming a nuisance to other challengers, something that even Marie herself isn’t happy about. And you wanna know something? I actually really like Team Yell because of how unique they are compared to antagonistic teams we had up to that point especially with how Sword and Shield’s plot was more focused on the Gym’s this time around and how it’s treated as this big event that everyone goes crazy over. Just like real sports. And like real sports there are people who take their love for certain players or teams in that sport WAY to seriously. Yeah, Team Yell is a team that could only work in this game and I love that it does work.

Helps that Team Yell has a cool as hell style to them two with the punk rock aesthetic and use of black and purple, I seriously don’t think I can express how much I love their design. Or how it’s another one I probaply should of gotten Mikaela as a grunt for sooner consider she moved to Galar not long after hooking up with Nessa. And, something I didn’t actually think about until AngelicMoonStone brought it up when asking her to draw this for me this month for my Patron reward is that Team Yell actually kinda have a bit of a Y2K Era feel to them despite coming from a game that released in 2019. And honestly, I can totally see it and love it. Ironic two since I recently decided to rewatch the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon from 2003 since I was in a mood and that is the specific version of the TMNT I personally grew up with plus the 2007 movie and no joke, there is one character in this show who’s design looks A LOT like Team Yell’s a little, it’s kinda uncanny.

Do I think Team Yell could be a lot more evil in cannon? Maybe. Especially considering sports fan… No, not even sports fans just fandoms in general *especially gamers*, have done some really awful and atrocious shit all in the name of the thing they love and support or in the name of trashing something they despite and that could of also worked for Team Yell as well given what they were going for with this team. Do I still think they work for what they are? Absolutely! For the story Sword and Sheild and what Team Yell was trying to represent I think they are still a good antagonistic team and got a dam good style to them to match.
