Sunset. A time of inner peace. A time for reflection.
That evening, Zhakrid was sitting in her favourite spot once again. Her heartbeat mirrored the rhythm of the sea. The salty sea breeze rustled gently through her light brown fur, interrupted by large black patches. It was a peaceful sight, watching the sun settle down on the distant horizon. The Kundoka Cliff had always been a balm for Zhakrid's soul. But not today, not this evening.
A feeling of sadness enveloped her heart. A sadness she could not explain. An bitter emptiness simply would not release her from its stranglehold. The whole truth, however, was that it was a feeling that had been weighing on Zhakrid for quite some time. Never before, though, had Zhakrid felt so… so…
"Alone."
The word slipped so instinctively from her lips that she startled herself. It was like an admission that pierced Zhakrid’s heart like an icy needle. She was alone. She felt alone. And for whatever reason: the longer she gazed at it, these mighty masses of water rolling across the endless horizon, the lonelier she felt. Yet there was another feeling in her chest as she gazed out at the ocean. Another feeling she could not explain. Beyond this sense of emptiness in her life, she felt a warming light of hope. It was faint, barely perceptible, like a weak whisper in the wind. Something gave her hope on that promising evening. Hope for an answer to what was missing from her life. And she wanted to find it. Wherever that answer awaited her …
And so Zhakrid decided that this sunset would become a sunrise for her life.
