Dhojo's a character that's been in the works for a while now. Originally I made him out to be a white tiger with a red beard... then realized that wasn't original design, because I ran into art of the exact character on Twitter and remembered I had in fact seen the design before.
I've finally gotten around to the holy trifecta on ESO: I have a good DPS, good healer, and as of today Dhojo is my tank with a decent beginner build. He's a big boy, 6'8 and 520#!
Here's an excerpt from his backstory:
"Dhojo was raised in the Northern Elsweyr countryside outside of Riverhold by his father. His father is a blacksmith with his own forge, and taught Dhojo everything he knew for his son to one day become the successor to the small rural forge. That being said, Dhojo had very minimal interest in ever owning the business. As he aged, his ambitions were beyond the forge: He wanted to learn to fight. However, he succumbed to how life goes, and reluctantly accepted the cards he was dealt. Dhojo never even learned the Tamrielic language in his secluded lifestyle, only ever communicating with his father and other Khajiit locals.
When he reached his teens, his father would occasionally send Dhojo to the Riverhold market to sell armor, weapons, and other forged goods. This was the most social aspect of Dhojo’s life, as he typically stayed at the forge and worked; he wasn’t the best salesman, and usually let the quality of his goods sell themselves. On one of these occasions, a group of Orc mercenaries from Wrothgar arrived at Dhojo’s small booth. Impressed by the quality of the weapons and armor, they spent a decent amount of coin on Dhojo’s wares. Dhojo was incredibly impressed at the group, who were battle-worn and tough; he failed to effectively communicate with them, not having a common language to speak. After their departure, he returned to the forge, waiting for his father to go to bed. He gathered up some armor he had crafted for himself in his free time, as well as a large, two-handed axe. Geared up, he left his sleeping father a note saying he was going to fight, and bid his home farewell. He returned to Riverhold, finding the camp where the Orc mercenaries were staying. Approaching the group, he mustered up what he could in Tamrielic to communicate with them. “Dhojo go fight. With Orc.”
The Orcs would gladly accept the young, rather massive Khajiit as a hireling, taking him with them on various assignments around Tamriel. Eventually, they would return to Wrothgar, where Dhojo would learn Orcish culture in-depth. Joining a stronghold, he would initially start as a smith due to his advanced knowledge in the trade; however, this traditionally being a women’s job, Dhojo eventually transitioned to being a hunter for the stronghold. In these years, he would learn to speak Orcish fluently, take on many Orcish traits, become rowdy and grow very strong. The massive Khajiit would be a sight to see within an Orcish stronghold, adapting flawlessly to the culture.
After his late teens and early 20s, Dhojo found the desire to return to his native land of Elsweyr to visit his father at the forge. They would reconnect pleasantly, his father still operating the forge as usual; after Dhojo’s departure, he found a new Khajiit woman and had two boys, now in their early adolescence. Satisfied his father had found new successors for his forge, Dhojo felt no need to stay to help as his father aged. After a few months in his old lifestyle, he felt restless. The action in his years as a hunter had him yearning for action. During a visit to Rimmen, Dhojo was enticed by a Dominion recruiter to join the frontlines as a Dominion soldier in Cyrodiil. He enthusiastically took on this opportunity, and went to fight for the Aldmeri Dominion.
In Cyrodiil, Dhojo earned many nicknames, often short as he still did not speak the much more common language of Tamrielic. “Crush” and “Hands” were some nicknames he acquired during his tenure due to his common tactic of rushing smaller enemies, grabbing them by their heads, and squeezing until their skulls cracked under the pressure. His brutal Orcish fighting style was uncommon among the ranks of the Dominion. Dhojo found great pleasure in combat, destroying his enemies with ease. Bloodshed was a talent of his, and he earned a great deal of respect for his accomplishments in battle. After a particularly bloody battle, Dhojo’s platoon ended up mostly dead or captured. Miraculously, the Khajiit managed to evade capture as surrendering or death seemed imminent, escaping in the fog of war. At this time he abandoned his duties to the Dominion, deciding to become a travelling mercenary-for-hire, which sets us in the present day."
