Herbi-more & Carni-more Saga <<< PREV | FIRST | NEXT >>>Another dead end. The side streets of the Black Market had been full of everything but the thing Bill wanted. Meat of all kinds, fresh cuts, processed, and even full, fresh, bodies on display for bagging and taking home. On any other day he'd have picked up a sample, or sat down for a quick bite to eat, but this was a mission. He could eat after it was complete. With his disappointment rising, he turned to retrace his steps and head back towards the central thoroughfare, there were other alleyways he'd yet to explore.
"Hey! You!" a voice cut through the hissing of pans, and the barks of desperate shopkeepers. Ears perked up all around, but only Bill turned to follow the source of the voice.
In the distance, at a stall he was certain hadn't been there moments ago, there stood a beast. Pointed ears poked up through the blackened hood of lengthy trench coat. Piercing red eyes poked out from beneath the hood's brim, nestled between it and a facial covering that obscured the creatures snout. The ears and seemingly square muzzle pointed to a canine of some sort, but not one Bill was familiar with. The wolf raised a clawed finger and bent it towards himself, beckoning the tiger over. Bill stood his ground. He wasn't looking to buy meat, and given the emptiness of the stall, he had doubts if the canine was even selling at all.
The canine opened the left breast of his coat and revealed rows of neatly arranged chemical vials clipped to the inside. Each vial carried the same dull liquid and a label. Too small to read from so far away, but Bill felt something swell in his stomach. This was the first indication he'd stumbled upon the right place. That he'd found the mysterious beast distributing this Carni-More and Herbi-More stuff to his friends. His rational mind begged him to reconsider the possibility, to think for just a moment more about its legitimacy, but his legs were already moving. He drew in closer to the peddler, as the canine's cheeks rose in a knowing smile...
