"UV-lit incursion"

A researcher of the Shadelands, this lizard had always hoped to find a way to get there himself. But, with no known way to tell where any portals to it are, he figured he was just going to have to get lucky... Then, the day came when he happened to meet an unusually friendly umbrakin that had taken to living on Earth despite the danger sunlight posed to them. Voicing his desire - and doing some convincing - the lizard managed to get the umbrakin willing to show him a way to the Shadelands at last!

Very well knowing what he was going to be getting himself into, the lizard got the strongest handheld UV light he could find, making sure it was waterproof since apparently the portal would be underwater, and let the umbrakin lead the way. The two dove into a lake, then a cave inside, where the lizard made sure to keep his light off so the portal wouldn't close. Soon, the umbrakin signaled that the two had arrived, and stayed behind as the lizard swam off, vanishing into the Shadelands.

The lizard shuddered a little as he felt strange, already noticing a significant difference from where he'd just been. As he turned on the light, strange worm-like creatures darted away from him, one that had been caught in it leaving a trail of dark fog of some kind. Behind him, he could see the portal he'd come in through, closing because of his light - thankfully much slower than on Earth, as his tail hadn't gone fully through. The lizard pulled his tail the rest of the way into the Shadelands, and the portal closed, leaving him with no easy way back. But, finally getting to see the place for himself was going to be worth the risk, and his UV flashlight would do a good job of keeping him safe. He started swimming to the surface of the lake he'd found himself in, ready to learn as much as he could.
