I just found the beers sitting there on the counter, lined up like they were waiting for me, so I popped one open and took a long drink, there was a warmth spreading through my limbs, a subtle pressure in my chest. By the next bottle, I couldn’t ignore it anymore. Each swallow made my pulse heavier, my body stretching, expanding, claiming more space with every breath. The kitchen wasn’t changing, I was. And I wasn’t stopping. My shoulders brushed the ceiling before it simply slipped out of view, walls falling away as I swelled larger and larger. I filled the space completely, crowding out everything else until there was nothing left but me. All from a few quiet drinks on an ordinary table.
