You know, for all of the things Kass is. Adaptable is the foremost strongest trait I think. I'm sure this is just the start of another spiral of mental degradation. But god bless, his mental fortitude, rationalization and further adaptation is just unreal. He's an exceedingly admirable character in this regaurd. Honestly ultimately my favorite for that reason. He's not the smartest or most physically imposing, but have any of the cast go through what he has in as short of a time and I expect they would have broken down much sooner. Especially since I don't think he's getting the mental support he needs. If you removed Kass, (because you know he'd be the first person giving emotional support to the rest of the cast. It's just in his nature.) I don't think they could withstand the mental/social acclimations at all, let alone as well as he has.
I'd imagine the only ones to take such changes in stride would be Ran and Trademaster himself.
The last one would even manage to turn such transformation into his advantage by quickly assimilating local yinglets into House Ivenmoth!
Just imagine, what a powerful Patriarch he'd make!
Though given the political games from outer clans, it mights brought a war with yinglets to his doorsteps, yet still, I bet he could've managed it just fine.
Ran on the other hand would have a first hand experience and thrown himself into the depths of research from every possible angle!
And I'd bet a ton of clams, that he'd be first to get instantly preggo, just for the sake of science!

Hard to say honestly. I could see the arguement for either, but part of my initial reasoning was from the perspective of having their world paradigm completely shifted. Trade Master would probably suffer the worst of the two, as the only reason Kass can muddle along seamlessly from a societal perspective is because of his backing. No one would likely believe or more likely couldn't resist taking advantage of the political turmoil. I suspect he'd be excised quickly. For Ran, I could see a smoother transition depending on how well he handles the transition mentally. Kass has commented prior that their are cognitive and intinctual nuances that burden him heavily. It's feasible that'd be within Ran's tolerance levels. But it's hard to say. It's easy to use Yinglets as a one to one transformation in thid case. Which is a fair arguement, but my intial reasoning was just taking someone out of their comfort zone and depth and just dropping them into that physiological scenario. While they ultimately be able to handle Yinglets, I think Kass is just uniquely predisposed to being emotionally intelligent and flexible. Though I maybe over estimating him, I suspect that regardless of what form you threw him into, he'd adapt regardless. I don't think that's necessarily true for the other cast members. Like Vizlet, she could probanly handle being human for example. But those are easy ones with them holding some predisposition for them. Would they hold up the same or as well in other forms it's hard to say. It's an interesting thought experiment though.
Being smart isn't the issue, it's the avoidance. Ran avoids dealing with the emotional aspects of a situation, be they Ran's or other people's, and just uses flowery language to cover it up. But as we saw on page #234, Vizlet is the opposite, she's very articulate but she uses that to talk about people's emotional needs.
While I agree with most points, I must point out that Veracroix is extremly systematic with his thinking, he's not dealing with feelings/identity and other stuff much, unlike Kass does.
Given how he juggles the other houses and manages them around with flattery or threats, he might have a tough time initially, due to need to prove himself still worthy as a Trade Master even in such sorry state (as well as prove that he's still himself evem in yinglet body), but if he'd manage to survive that hurdle, he'd be back on top of things cuz that's just his personality, from what we've seen so far.
I do agree that Kass has a unique flexibility of mind that allows him to withtand the hurdles that life throws his way, not many has such amazing trait.
That's exactly why I pointed out only 2 other people who'd manage to overcome and even benefit from such circumstances.

That's a really interesting insight, like I generally explain the issues of sex across age gaps in terms of people's relative progression through foundational experiences, but looking at page #26 again I never realized how much the whole anthropological "catching up vs. forcing one culture down another's path" can mirror sexual dilemmas. I can see this being an issue when Kass has to join a peer group of yinglets who think he looks like them but either are sexually-emotionally younger than him, appear to be, or are on a whole other path of social sexual development. It's gonna be awwwkkkwwwarrd.
It mirrors modern issues with the IQ system and why it's not used anymore; besides the ethno-centric bias which also applies to yinglets, it led to a lot of assumptions that those with low IQs could never and therefore should never sexually mature. Which sounds like a great way to protect people until they actually do grow up and suddenly they're not allowed to marry or have kids just because they can't solve a bunch of puzzles.
On the other hand, Neksuscat pointed out that yinglet society itself is at least as far as we know actually younger; Vizlet explains her belief on page #26 that they're all catching up on foundational knowledge and experiences while also trying not to artificially impose human culture on themselves. It's a dilemma of cross-cultural interaction that I'm realizing overlaps with the concerns of age-gap sexual relationships.

Totally need to see the rest of the gang transformed into other species. Lopin as whatever Isher is would be interesting, particularly if he kept his femme traits. Isher as a yinglet would work for her if only because she seems to want to be smol and cute, though I believe she'd prefer human. Baxxid boy seems like anything with enhanced manual dexterity would keep him occupied for some time and not just because he could be his own date...
'effectively' permanent. As far as has been confirmed so far the 'event' that happened to Kass was unique (The southern Yinglet patriarch who may or may not be a future villain someday might know differently), anything that could change Kass back to human male would have to be on the order of the thing that turned him into a yinglet female and just as rare.
It's not like 'Zhat Zhing' glued a Yinglet switch onto Kass and then flipped it and so it's just a matter of finding the Yinglet switch and flipping it again.

or is it? gotta wonder how stable the transformation really is, I'm sure Ran has been taking biopsies from The Hole and exposing them to all kinds of stimuli to see what happens. I mean, it's Ran. I'm sure no one's telling Kass because they want him to accept and adapt to his current condition rather than cling to a hope like that.
Maybe one day Ran will find a cure, but at that point Kass might not want it anymore. Or rather, he will simultaneously still want it desperately but be too invested in his life as a yinglet, causing yet another existential crisis.

Honestly happy to see that they're both talking about it...Even if not directly
'cause they're both right, it COULD work? It could!
But she's not wrong for stopping liking Kass, or Kass is wrong for thinking that they aren't to the same page anymore, the situation is just complicated... ^^;

Yellow, OOPs friends! I'm here to remind you once again that there's a place called "Top Web Comics" https://www.topwebcomics.com/?home=3 that compiles comics from various places. There's a bunch of cool stuff there. They have monthly votes, so you can support OOPs there. You can vote once a day per device, so your PC, laptop, tablet, phone, etc.
I've noticed that you can sometimes even get in extra votes from different IP addresses, or if you're disconnected from your IP and open up again later.
It closed out last month at 747+ votes and 27th place. It's currently at 699 votes and 42nd place. The highest it's reached is 24th place, and the top vote getters seem to end up with something over 20,000+ votes, at least recently.
Vote early, vote often! Help OOPs get noticed!

How cliche Kass. Not noticing your girl friend is interested in you romantically? Go back to your high school movie. For real though, I once had friends tell me a girl was in to me but I didn’t believe them because I was like, “who the hell would be interested in me?”
By the way, loving all the wide-eyed yinglet panels in this.
