You wouldn't believe it at first glance, but Sirius is one of the few remaining descendants of the Night Fury. Over the many thousands of years of evolution, his race has developed from dragons into a fox-like species with some attributes having been retained, but also entirely new ones have been added. And of course not only physical characteristics have changed, but also mental ones. Earth's civilization in the 21st century is no longer the same as it was during the time of Sirius' furless ancestors. He is now a completely normal 18-year-old student, with all the typical problems of someone who has recently become an adult in our society.
