Comic: The Sea Is Calling (Page 8)

The sun rises from the depths of dawn, painting the Cobalt Sea in a glorious mix of pink and orange. Glimmering, sparkling waters gently brush against the docks of G’eelm Outpost, where countless ships lay dormant, waiting for their next adventure out to sea. Today is the day the Outriders’ Chieftain is set to return after some time away. His wife didn’t fully divulge the details of what he and his crew were doing to the trio, but whatever it was, it was big enough to temporarily keep him away from his home. The sunrays begin to seep through the open window and onto Ithaca’s face, disturbing her from whatever peaceful dream she may be having. Perhaps she was dreaming of finding a stash of rare gems for her to keep, or maybe she was in the midst of an intense battle with…her headband, making sure it’s tight enough but not too tight on her forehead. As she started to wake, her mouth opened wide to let out a heaving yawn. At the same time, a knock came at the door. It was Wyona’s voice on the other side, “Sorry to wake ya dearies, but the Chieftain's ship'll be dockin' soon. Better be up n' at it if ya don't wanna miss 'em!”
Indeed, just on the horizon one could make out the silhouette of a large ship, and another, and then another. The fleet of Outrider ships were nearing their home. The Lands Trio would need to ready themselves for the impending arrival of the Chieftain himself. Roseland sat idly at a table facing the window. She’d gotten an early start to the day to write in her journal as per usual, using the crisp, pink sunrays to illuminate her writing. “It's almost time.” The clouded leopard thought to herself with her fingers interlaced. Today would be the day everything would truly be set in motion. Zenchi, Ithaca, and Roseland quickly geared up and indulged in a quick breakfast before heading out to the crowded shipyard with Wyona. Just in time, there she was: the Chieftain’s main ship, Wyona’s Hand. The sound of ship bells filled the air, drawing attention from every corner of G’eelm Outpost. The sails were appropriately adorned with the Outriders’ emblem of an axe and serpent, leaving no room for doubts. And there he stood at the helm, the Chieftain of the Outriders in all his glory.
