Comic: The Sea Is Calling (Page 7)

Resting Waves Inn provided its tenants with incredible hospitality and comfort. It was almost like stepping into an entirely different world when passing through its doors. Knowing that G’eelm Outpost is the home of the Outriders, it only makes sense for an inn to be modeled so faithfully after the sea. Nearly every piece of décor and furniture was a varying shade of blue, even down to the lighting fixtures. The air felt cool, utterly calm and collected. The Chieftain’s wife had put in a good word for the three newcomers, providing them with a room free of charge.
Plans for tomorrow were already set and were quite straightforward. Meet the Chieftain and work things out from there. But before then, a good night’s rest is due. Roseland sat up in the blue bed, partially under the covers while participating in her favorite pastime: reading. She took a break in between pages to discuss their tour from earlier, “Surprisingly welcoming atmosphere hm? I'll take a comfortable, tight-knit community like this over Zondai any day of the week.” Roseland, being a foreigner from Esphethis, was more accustomed to the crowded city life of Zondai, that nation’s Capital. It was a far cry from the more hand-in-hand, everybody knows everybody lifestyle of G’eelm Outpost. In a similar vein, Ithaca agreed. Performing some stretches before bed, she reminisced in her own way, “Mhm! The locals are so nice, and it feels so... homey! It takes me back...” Zenchi leaned forward with her arms crossed, also thinking back to her and Ithaca’s long-lost hometown of Alleria-Sune. Perhaps the biggest surprise of their stay at G’eelm so far was Wyona herself, a very bubbly character with an endless amount of kindness to share, “The Chieftain's wife sure does have a lot of energy. It's refreshing seeing an older individual with a positive, carefree attitude.” In a world so rife with war, violence, death, tension, and disease, Zenchi found it a breath of fresh air to find even a small pocket of furkind that held such a bright outlook on life, “It feels like so many of the people we meet are jaded, apathetic, and couldn't care less if the world exists tomorrow.” Despite the much-needed pause in their mission, Ithaca could barely contain her eagerness to meet the big man soon, “True. Still, I'm so excited to meet the Chieftain tomorrow! I wonder if he's as stoic and fearless as everyone says.” Of course, this lingering question remained on Zenchi’s and Roseland’s minds as well. They had obviously never met him in person, but knew enough from word of mouth to know that he’s much more than some ordinary sailor. But how far that prospect would reach was yet to be seen. Nonetheless, there was no point in toiling over it now, as Zenchi retreated into the warm, plush blankets and felt ready to doze off, “Yeah, well my ass is ready to hit the hay. Rest easy, you two.” Ithaca and Roseland would soon follow suit, “*YAWN* Night, Chi-Chi!” “Sleep well, Zenchi, Ithaca.” And the day came to a close. Tomorrow, everything will soon be set in motion. The trio hadn’t forgotten their mission. They weren’t here for merely a friendly visit. No, something far bigger was at stake…and they would learn precisely what it was in due time.
