This post was originally uploaded on my DA on OCT. 16th, 2025, I want to post this as there is more Thomza related content to come and this is a technical continuation of my last post and I feel it would be weird not to have ANY of the updated content that was once exclusive to my DA account. I honestly might start posting all my lore and world-building content stuff on my FA again and wanted to update such.
“Freeeeeya knows moooore than the council ever could knoooow!~ Freya is going to talk alllll about the MASKLESS species that so many claim to be similar to the Faceless. Maskless, according to thoooose in the council are apocalyptic, universe ending, planet eating, super spooky, devourer of the very gods, and… Uh… Freya forgot the rest… Uhm...
I-It doesn’t matter— Freya knows alllllllll about Maskless beings because she’s much smarter than them. They’re not wrong as Maskless are TRULY TRULY, TRULY, immortal, and far STRONGER and more abstract and are above anyoooooone who claims a title of a god! However, with SUUUUCH intense power to wipe out ALLLLL of reality by just shuffling their foot the wrong way, Maskless muuuust instead use puppets to project their cute and silly existence. As they’re not just powerful to wipe us all out, but they can also pop out of existence even if on total accident! Gee golly gee- I sure am glad that hasn’t happened in a SUPER-DUPER long time and there’s no records of it! (Do we have records of it? The council said they have records of it, but that makes no sense.) It’s why Maskless and their puppets can only learn Scriptwrighting. Bending the VERY universe itself to listen to them with… Various mixed results as Thom-Thom’s spells have backfired on them oooonce or twice even when it was a simple light spell.
So, uhm, yeah, Maskless are suuuuuuper scary entities- IN THEORY I GUESS??? Sure, they can POTENTIALLY wipe us all out in a moment’s notice, meant to be destroyers, but… Nah. Even then there’s Maxwell, the EVIIIIL (evil with a capital E) Maskless who’s wiped out MORE universes with his army of faceless and like he hasn’t lifted a finger himself. I think people are just scared of the POTENTIAL of them wiping all of existence out. Also, Maskless is such a weird and broad term, as Caroline and even Captain PiK consider themselves to be… Maskless, but they ain’t puppet masters so ya know- yeah, uhm?

I want to point out that this is an Epic Dark Fantasy setting with a lot of mythological and religious tones and that there is no real-life connection to any of these events, religions, characters and it is fully, grounded, in fantasy. There is no copyright infringement also intended to other forms of media as Skin to Scales is meant to be its own thing and something I've been working on for a very long time. This is the same setting where faith is a massive part of the magic system, and it is usually meant to have a very bright and colorful art style to help balance the tone. The font I use for my writing logs is Cambria, and I do the editing in paint, yes- the really old one- so you know, copyright stuff.

Quick fun fact: I initially designed this as a "live" system for Thomza originally and that "extra lives" was just made out of materials for puppets if one of them were to fall.
Quick fun fact 2: I always bounced around with the idea of Maskless entities being the "Anti-Powerscale" archetype. That sure Thomza is all powerful, but power can't solve every problem, and it allows me to "adjust" their power based off what puppet transformation they're using. It's literally just here to sound cool and to indulge in the power fantasy of Skin to Scales with everything being so over the top all the time, and is designed well- to be fun?
