When the Goat was sealed away, an insurance policy in case the One Who Waits were to ever send a worthy vessel, the world was different. The Bishops stood apart from one another in their temples, the wounds of their maimings still fresh. They had been raised for the task of being the vessel of War, a true champion of the Bishops. However, Shamura, as their health continued to decline, forgot about their vessel, secreted away in the Purple Crown. It was only when the devotion left within to sustain them ran out that the Purple Crown revealed itself to be the Crown of Wisdom, ejecting both the Crown of War (for Shamura had split their domain) and the Goat from the stasis they were in.

The Goat was not prepared to wake up in a world of reconciliation, where a Lamb had crusaded against the Bishops not for revenge, but for love of a divine purpose greater than sacrifice. Their Master has fallen, is crownless, and yet insists that things have not turned out so terribly. The Goat was prepared to wake to prevent this very future, but now that they're here, they must find a place within it.

That their master has nephews now is not helping the matter.
