In a distant future on the ruins of forgotten human worlds, the Tanis still thrive...
A beautiful piece of art I received from
Drawain part of her charity raffle for Ukraine
The Federation may still be in full swing, people of its core worlds not even aware of the existence of any specie, civilization or culture not originating from humankind, however the fringes, vast stretches of space stripped down of easily exploitable resources left behind harbours the strange and unknown. Those places where rumours and odd, peculiar sightings are the reality, that life exists and thrives often on the collapsed remnants of many millennia behind.
Even us, humans are out there, left to our devices once prosperity had moved on.
Such a world might be this, ancient relics of our past, the shiriats together with their great cyats had probably moved in once the Federation have turned its back to it, while a few of the ageless tanis may have already lurked in the less populated regions.
Isolated from their kind, they themselves adapt, the nirs grew to proportions matching and later surpassing the cyats as they travel on their own between the remote cities and overseeing the wilderness living their strange ways. Some see them supernatural, understanding their ageless nature as immortality and fazed by their disregard of what we see as wealth and prosperity, incorruptible creatures who act only by their own will.
They may turn up in a town ridden by plague and heal the poor and sick, but the same they may leave disease behind if they see the land being mistreated. And oh fear the dragons if they ever appeared!
Out in the wild, they however just live their ways, and sometimes just enjoy the thrill of running at great speeds past the remnants of times past where life, as always, had found its ways to rise again.
