I Drew This guy for the Contest «Deeper into the Woods…»

This is a story about a hero who dared to uncover the ancient secrets of the enchanted forest… Deep in the labyrinth of centuries‑old trees lie magic, deadly perils, wondrous creatures, and mysterious ruins. Magic reigns everywhere. Barely any light filters through the canopy, and even on the sunniest days, the forest’s edge is shrouded in a veil of mist. The rustling of the woods beckons naive travellers. It whispers of treasures and adventures awaiting those brave souls who cross its threshold. But the farther they venture into the mysterious forest, the more perilous their journey becomes…
The task was to draw a CHARACTER, PROPS, and a HOUSE lost in the thicket — and in several variations, no less.
What an awesome theme! I love forests, antiquities, and enigmatic riddles! But, as always, I came to my senses at the last minute and only managed to sketch some simple bits. And what an epic plot I could have realised! Ooooh! I could’ve made a whole comic! I can just picture the hero wandering among the ruins of ancient cities in search of artefacts! Strange creatures and plants all around, underground structures, and the skeletons of those who weren’t so lucky…
Oh… I’ll do it someday. I console myself with the thought: better done poorly than not done at all. Down with perfectionism! Though I actually like this character just as he is. At that moment, under those conditions, I probably did the best I could.
Of course, I didn’t win that contest — but it didn’t bother me. After all, I cheated a bit: I got disappointed in advance and accepted defeat! 😆
Besides, there were some absolute legends in the contest! I happily studied their works and picked up a few tricks. I think I beat myself that time — and had a blast! And that’s what matters.
Just look at this cutie! His full name is Pierro Masso Posso. But everyone calls him Bip. He’ll show up in my stories again. At first, I wanted to send him off to heroically conquer the ancient forest in his underpants and with a stick, but then I dressed him up after all… Though that would’ve been totally in his character! Such a little rascal!
