As the Persian got her home, he had to admit—it was a nice little house. A single story, quiet and tidy, with the faint glow of dawn just beginning to peek through the curtains. The air still held a chill from the night, but it felt peaceful.
He walked in with her, the purugly leaning tiredly against his side. She was groggy, her eyes half-open as he gently patted her back and set the bag of food down on the counter.
“Almost there,” he said softly, his voice low so as not to startle the morning calm. He guided her toward the bedroom, her steps slow and heavy. Helping her out of her coat, he quickly turned down the covers and motioned for her to lie down.
She let out a long yawn before sinking into the bed, curling slightly as her tail flicked once. As he tucked the blanket around her, she mumbled a quiet, sleepy “Thanks…”
The Persian smiled and leaned in to kiss her forehead. “Get some rest,” he whispered, his tone full of warmth. He smoothed the blanket once more and dimmed the lamp before stepping out.
He padded back to the kitchen, the first rays of sunlight glinting off the fridge door. After putting the food away, he noticed a small notepad on the counter. Taking a pen, he scribbled a few words with a fond smile.

I love you.

He tore the note free and stuck it neatly to the fridge where she’d see it first thing when she woke.
Before leaving, he took one last look at the quiet home, bathed in the soft gold of morning. A sense of calm washed over him as he closed the door gently behind him.
He hoped she’d like the food—and that when she opened her eyes, the day would start just a little sweeter.
