The night shift hums quietly inside Drop & Dry Cleaners, its fluorescent lights flickering against a row of washing machines that never sleep. An exhausted employee opens a new box of "stain remover powder" and pours it into the drum. A pale cloud drifts up, catching in the light—soft, glimmering, almost beautiful—until he breathes it in.
The air burns. His throat tightens. The floor seems to warp beneath him. Then, from his back, something moves—tendons twisting, bones snapping, limbs multiplying in a wet symphony of muscle and sinew. His reflection in the chrome washer door warps into something sleek, black, and hungry.
Moments later, the shop erupts in chaos—metal groaning under clawed weight, hangers clattering to the floor, a tail lashing through racks of freshly pressed suits. The thing crouches among the scent of detergent and steam, two glowing eyes and a pair of whip-like tentacles gleaming beneath the flickering lights.
The cash register dings. The washer buzzes. Somewhere, the last load of the night finishes its cycle.
But Drop & Dry will never open tomorrow~
