Theophilus is sitting on a stool in the kitchen of the human apartment in which he settled at that time, holding a mug of hot tea brewed on orange peels from a bag that was once collected by Fess, his beloved, now deceased.

Рассказ о первой книге( "Тлеющий Ад: Бездомный Дьявол") и о том, что такое Летопись не-людской мировой истории - в статье:
dzen.ru/a/aEcpLJ8f... ("Тлеющий Ад": моя Летопись не-людской мировой истории. Новая обложка первой книги: моя картина "Бездомный Дьявол")
If the first book, which opens my series of chronicles, was a kind of introduction, a short story, which is a kind of introduction to the narrative of the invisible world, demonstrating it more through the eyes of an ignorant person, then the second book, "Orange tea", opens a direct plot that I chose to narrate about the fate of many people and non-people. However, no, I hardly chose anything: rather, it was the plot that chose me, and I was obligated to write it down the way it came down to me from above. And how was it at all: When I was just starting to write the first book in this series, I still had no idea about one comrade who was not just a full participant in these events: the narrative of my chronicles from the 2nd to the 6th books was built around him. You can see him in my painting.
His name is Theophilus Khakassky, he is a goat-footed satyr and a halfdemon, who at the time of the events of the second book had not yet acquired titles. He also appears in the first book. However, when I was just starting to write the book "The Homeless Devil", at first I did not remember and did not see Theophilus, that is, information about him was hidden from me.
But at that time, Semiaza came to me in order to spend a vacation with me. I remember it was the first year I moved from Tver to my hometown and started settling in there, and the apartment hadn't even had internet yet. Or was it the period when my laptop broke down and I was writing a book on my phone? I'm confused. In any case, it was at the very beginning of my arrival at this apartment, in the place of my childhood here. And it so happened that at that time Semiaza liked to play games on his phone. And among others, he had one game called "My Talking Hank." There, the dog character could be dressed up in different images. Semiaza and I were sitting on the couch, and I watched him play this game, changing outfits and images in the character's wardrobe. And then, once again switching the outfit, Semiaza dressed the character in some clothes, I can't even remember what, but that's not the main thing: the main thing is that in this image, in addition to clothes, the character got red disheveled hair and a red goatee. I look at this outfit, and it hits me! The vision, that is, came, and also the spiritual memory was opened: and a portrait of Theophilus himself appeared in my head, and the information flashed like crazy. Thus, I suddenly realized that I had not fully understood the events described in the first book, and I continued to write, inserting into the narrative everything that I had missed. And, having previously thought that I would write only one book, and not a series at all, at the end of the story "The Homeless Devil" I suddenly realize that information and visions are flowing on, and this flow cannot be stopped. Therefore, without thinking twice, I sat down to write the second book, which opened the main plot, according to which my chronicles went.
Meanwhile, the second book tells about Theophilus: about his childhood, growing up, tragedies, sorrows and joys. Born in a remote forest village to an ordinary human woman, Theophilus felt human prejudice and hatred based on prejudice and otherness from childhood. A horned boy grew up without a father, and the whole village shunned his horns, so that the mother, a gentle praying mantis (I wonder for what reasons decided to have an affair with a Dark and horned one?), chose not to let the imp out of the house at all, out of harm's way; from the birth of little Theo, Demid, the village headman, took over the patronage of the "wayward family", soon becoming a stepfather for the imp, but not a loving named father who accepts the adopted child as his own, but, unfortunately, a tyrant and murderer who attributes his cruelty to parenting methods. Theophilus had a difficult childhood, but his will was surprisingly firm from childhood. "I'll withstand it" - that's the words that both the little horned boy and the mature adult Theophilus, a strong and brave demon with an unquenchable fire of will in his eyes, so often repeated to himself. From his father's house, from the dark, deaf basement where Theo was imprisoned by Demid, he managed to get out already in his youth and at the turn of adulthood, thanks to a raid by robbers on the village. Fate had prepared Theophilus to join the life of the evil spirits of the forest, in the wild expanse of nature, there to find love and happiness in the person of the charming nymph Fessky, but to lose everything overnight with the arrival of the Vatican exorcists in these lands, who at that time organized "Sweeps" across all countries.
Those sweeps were led by the Pope's vicar himself, Reverend Father Enrico. I've drawn it more than once, but those drawings are already quite old, not drawn as well and reliably as I would draw them now. From one captivity to another: as if Theophilus's childhood torments were not enough, fate added new ones. He was captured by Father Enrico at the exorcist headquarters, where the poor demigod was now tortured not with hatred, but with sick, perverted love.
Theophilus withstanded it, too. He was able to find the strength to rekindle his fire, especially since his faithful friend, Satan himself, whom Theophilus had met in his youth, soon came to save him, when he left his father's house free, into the wild forest expanses.
Overcoming despair, apathy and unwillingness to live, Theophil managed to escape. He fled to the cities, leaving the forest lands for a long time. He wanted to forget himself there: he drank, partied, went out with girls, and kept an impressive pistol with him, stolen during the escape from the reverend. A life full of revelry and fun was joyless for him. He thought he had managed to escape from the problems. However, the halfdemon was wrong: Father Enrico, an experienced exorcist who was not used to missing out, found him in the city. And then Theophilus realized that it was time to stop running: it was necessary to defeat the hated enemy and pursuer, destroy him so that he would no longer torment him, and avenge the murdered Fesska, even if he could not bring her back. Theophilus knew that after the Sabbath I described in the first book, another "Sweep" would take place, but now - in the city. And it was during this "Sweep" that he set out to achieve what he wanted, with the stern, desperate determination of someone who had nothing more to lose. Thus, in the midst of the general bedlam - when the evil spirits confronted the exorcists right on the streets of an unsuspecting city - Theophilus fought with Father Enrico. And he won. Killed him. It would seem... After all, a man certainly dies from a bullet. But not in this case. But that's a completely different story, which is the third book. We're still on the second one.
_____________
Why did I choose Theophilus as the central character of my chronicles? As I've already said, I didn't choose it, it just went that way. Why Theophilus? I'm still asking myself this question. During the description of his life on the pages of my Chronicle, I stuck to him with my heart as if he were my bosom friend, although in reality we communicated with him at most a couple of times. Well, maybe more, but I don't remember. When we met for the first time, in my Jerusalem, I immediately liked him. We had a heart-to-heart conversation, however, a little later, but on the same day, in Bulgaria, in a cave called "Eyes of God". I saw in him the breadth of his soul and the kindness of a strong heart. Theophilus became quite a significant person in the history of our Darkness, because he turned out to be not only the son of Satan, but also freed ordinary evil spirits from the long-term oppression of the Vatican, which no one among our ranks cared about. It is worth mentioning that through Theophilus, I, like a kind of guide, gradually lead the reader into our world, invisible to the human eye, but existing side by side with the human. After all, Theophilus himself gradually learned about the world to which he belongs: at first, the chronicle tells about the human world (books 1, 2), then the world of simple evil spirits is touched upon (2,3), then archdemons and angels begin to appear (4,5), but still as if through the prism of Theophilus' view, which is not organic to the official world (the world of the demonic elite and the world of Heaven), but starting from the sixth book, the world of Heaven and the world of the demonic elite are revealed in full and from different sides. Watching Theophilus on the pages of my Chronicles, I know him as a good-natured man, brave, strong, courageous, sometimes tough and ruthless to scoundrels in his own way, but above all, as an incredibly broad soul in which real kindness lives, genuine, exactly the kind that is so rare among us, and among people. Theophilus is an example of a strong, unbreakable will, the one that lives in me and that I so seriously value and respect in others. Whether he was so strong-minded from birth, or whether his cruel childhood had tempered his spirit, it's hard to say; but where another person would have broken down long ago, Theophilus overcame, overcame and overcame from childhood. The burning fire of will in his eyes became known worldwide, and that's what Theophilus was popularly called - the Unquenchable Fire. Unknowingly, he provides a serious and important lesson for those who read my chronicles, as well as for those who know him personally: never give up, no matter what happens, and fight no matter what gets in your way.
