Suffice to say, it's a multi-layered, archaic joke that stems from a time when traditions were different, and people were... more rigid in their beliefs. It can only really be found funny if you understand that it's not meant to be serious, these days. Even then, as with any joke, it's not for everyone.
In this case, I'm pretty sure this particular sister may not entirely understand the insinuation behind the name she's parroting. I think she's simply observed a 'ritual' commonly performed in a foreign land, and thought it would be fun to apply it here, without fully understanding what it is, or the joke behind the uh... "name".

Neither do I; but in the days when marriage was basically a business arrangement, and most couples barely knew each other, much less liked each other, "one last fling before donning the ball and chain" was more than a joke.
There's also the idea that, once you're married, you have to knuckle down, become a respectable adult, and work to create and support a family, so your list of possibilities for a future life gets radically cut down.

In western traditions the groom/husband gets to infidelity whenever he wants because western traditions dictate the bride/wife exists solely to be his status symbol and on-demand domestic servant who only gets endless weaponized incompetence in return.
O, and she has to also provide him a son and do all the parenting work and one on one time with said son but also not result in the son growing up to be a 'momma's boy' because the husband is supposed to have said son be a status symbol as well,
