It's Spooky Month! Last year I did a bunch of classic horror story characters as pokemon: Count Dracula, Victor Frankenstein, Jekyll and Hyde, etc...
I decided I wanted to do something like that again this year but with a little twist. First of all, instead of horror I decided to go a different direction capturing another side of Halloween: Fun (with some scariness mixed in)
This year the theme is Fairytales.
I had an idea I wanted to explore:
These pokemon are NOT meant to be taken as the characters from their respective fairy tales, these are kids who are wearing costumes that allow them to embody the story for which they are dressed as and gain abilities associated with their character/story, so a character might not just be the character who they resemble but a culmination of the entire story, and stories can be very powerful!
Adder was an Orphan who put a lot of effort into finding out who his birth family really is, whether they want him or not.
He embodies the spirit of the story of the Lindworm Prince. A Queen who can not have children gets advice from a Witch and is told if she eats a Red Rose she will have a Boy and if she eats a White rose she'll have a girl, but under no circumstances may she eat both roses, she has to choose one or the other. She ends up eating both of them anyway and gives birth to a Boy and a Lindworm! (A Wingless Serpentine Dragon) (Wait! Shouldn't the Lindworm be a girl?...the Red Rose was supposed to give a boy, and she had a son, so the Lindworm was born from the White Rose which means they are supposed to be a girl...Trans-Masc Lindworm I guess?)
The Lindworm is abandoned as a baby but returns when they are fully grown demanding that they get a bride before their brother because they were born first.
I did not plan this while I was drawing him, but I just had an idea pop into my head! The Lindworm Prince having a twin is important to the story, and I realized my character Aella the Serperior is also an Orphan...so what if I made Aella and Adder twins!
