On this date, for all Spanish speakers around the world, we celebrate October 12, the day of the discovery of America when Christopher Columbus, along with the three caravels (The Pinta, The Niña, and The Santa María), arrived on the lands of America (for Americans, The Americas). As a Venezuelan, I give thanks to Doña Isabella the Catholic, the founding mother of Hispanicity. Yep, believe it or not, I am Venezuelan, even though I speak English.
