Biologically, I don't know how it could be possible for a tree to grow in this way, but have fun speculating. x)
I'm really quite happy how the water and tree leaves came out in this, and I actually used quite a few of my own brushes with this! I apologize if things are a bit messy in the darker areas. My CRT monitor doesn't see dark stuff very well like LCD's can. Hopefully I'll be able to get a new monitor this fall! =)
Tell me what you think, and critiques welcome as always. Thanks! =D Enjoy!

Haha, apparently you can grow bonsai trees upside down... =P http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums.....12872.html?337
It'd be a brilliant wtf moment to find an entire one growing upside down in the wild though... Very nice painting work!

I've seen trees growing nearly horizontally, so why not upside down? Some squirrel might have stored some seed under there, and one started to grow. Trees will naturally grow toward the light. Considering where this tree is, the best light is the reflection from the water. I wonder if it confuses any birds
Some other plants yes a tall woody tree not really naturally Photo-tropism takes place and the plant grows toward the light. You can train a bonsai upside down. But thats done by intense pruning and special techniques. Some plants with a pendant habit may seem to be upside down but they will still lean toward a light source. I have an orchid that grows naturally on cliffs so the leaves hang down and the flower hangs down. This is a lovely illustration though
