The much-oft mentioned Harriet, from the Batty and Ed drawings! The daughter of a decidedly middle-class family, Harriet was never an easy daughter to raise. She always enjoyed boxing and thieving, and eventually a spectacular but failed heist had her sent to New Newgate Prison, where what could be considered her adventure truly began. While most think she was born in the Neath, it's a carefully guarded secret of hers that she was born on the Surface and shipped below to provide a child for a Marchweather cousin who could not bear offspring. She met Batty while the two were very young, and supported it through its rough childhood. Harriet remembers what Batty burned out of its memory, but out of respect, she mentions it not. Among her many pursuits as the Main Character in her timeline (though the story I focus on within that timeline is primarily on Batty/Ed), her favorite hobby is matchmaking. She'll happily help anyone who asks to find a partner, and considers herself skilled at finding good matches. She's absolutely disconsolate that Batty chose to get with Ed, as she did not at all intend to introduce them as romantic partners, and things only turned out that way due to Batty misinterpreting the situation.
