The Greater Drop Bear is an ambush predator and also the distant cousin of the koala. There were once believed to be two species - greater and lesser drop bears. However it was eventually discovered that the lesser drop bear was merely the joey of the adult.
This might seem like a fairly large observational blunder to make, but one has to remember that the only survivors of drop bear attacks were those who were attacked by the young. Adult drop bears tend to avoid humans entirely, but when they do attack, it is nearly always a fatal one.
