I thought I could keep them safe!
I thought I could keep them from turning until we found a cure.
I thought I could be there for them.
But I arrived at the castle, and she was there… Looming over us, her long neck slowly contorting to look at us.
The girls were with me when we found Pinkie… She had split off from the group to find Spike… We have yet to find him, and I don't know how she could have turned.
Those boils… The hypnotic eyes… The smog that came from her mouth…
We all tried to run, I led the girls through the layout of the castle, trying to distract Pinkie with balls of magic thrown behind us.
We were so close… We just had to get out.. She was too big to fit through the door thanks to her transformation…
I had made it outside with Applejack, but by the time we looked back, the others hadn't made it…
They were all hanging limp from Pinkie’s mouth, like well cooked noodles… Blood poured everywhere, they didn't even scream, they didn't have the time to.
Pinkie bit them so hard, it killed them almost instantly.
But their faces, I still see them in my nightmares… The light fading from their eyes, their hooves weakly reaching for us, as Pinkie’s eyes locked on us, making us her next target, before she reared her head back, swallowing our friends whole…
What we saw next, I don't know how to describe… But the boils… I guess exploded?
Clouds of blue and yellow smog filled the castle, leaking from the windows and doorway as if her party canon just went off.
I didn't think instinct took over at that point, it was all a blur… All I remember is putting Applejack on my back and taking off as far as I could, only stopping when my wings began to ache.
We managed to take refuge in a small building in some far fields outside of Ponyville, unfortunately, it seems like some ponies were here before us.
Judging by the different colours of discarded fur, and pink flower petals everywhere, I'm guessing one of the creatures got in through the open window we found when we arrived.
We spent the afternoon cleaning what we could, hoping to make this place at least SOMEWHAT liveable.
As of writing this, Applejack is sleeping, trying to recover from the past days events.
I also found a Journal, I'm guessing it was used by some other survivors who had written before they perished here.
That’s honestly not a bad idea… I might do that myself, starting with this journal… I skipped a few pages and I'm marking where my writing begins, with a small stick I found on the ground. I’d rather not have the death of a child be overshadowed by another survivor's story… We will remember the victims fondly, and hopefully, we’ll be able to hold an honourable funeral for them…
If we can fix this mess before we all turn or get eaten…
