My latest purchase from jetpens arrived! I picked up some nib holders, a variety of nibs, a bottle of Deleter #2 black ink. Before it, I bought some Speedball stuff from the local art store to compare and contrast. I wanted to make a jump into dip pens and nibs for more control and flexibility in texturing and line weight variation, so now that I got the basics, this was my first experiment.
The "TTRPG Kobold" on the left utilized a Hunt 56 School nib paired with Speedball india ink. My focus was dark(er) contrasts, textured hatching, and trying to cover for the various splotches I accidentally set in thanks to my unfamiliarity with dip pens.
For the "Furry Kobold" on the right, I employed a Pigma Micron 08 pen and some gently layered graphite to dial in that two-tone body. Just like a previous style experiment I made a while ago, I wanted to try and approximate what I perceive to be "furry" stylistic decisions furries make when drawing kobolds. Not going to lie, it was very fun to take such a massive departure from my usual approach!
