Of course, Death had anticipated it. The godhunter, Rhydian, his predatory dominance giving way to arrogance, as the gods disappeared into his gut, he’d watched that immortal wolf grow in strength and power. But never could he have anticipated his golden maw gliding over him, after a shared meal, one claw ripping a scythe from his hands as he went to defend himself.
Though the belch which thundered from his maw should have warned him, and yet, death chose not to react. He was invulnerable, invincible, as that golden maw slid over him, gulping, snarfing, despite his protests. He joined the other meals in the wolf’s fetid rank insides

BWOOOORRRRRRRRRRPPP.

A guttural belch forced the other scythe up up and out from the confines of the wolven god’s gut. “Mhmhm” He moaned. “Goodbye Death.” No other words seemed to resonate as death digested.
