August (age 17) – a teenager from a simple village in the Northern Country. The protagonist of the novel Ordinary Life. His quiet existence shatters upon moving to the city, where he accidentally discovers an entire hidden world: oppressed Balkuns, Aquarians, and other anthropomorphic races forced to live in the shadows due to persecution.
This previously invisible layer of reality astounds August with its inhabitants' sincerity, openness, and uniqueness – everything he sorely lacked in his former life of strict rules. Drawn into the whirlwind of events within this alien world governed by incomprehensible laws, he finds what he was searching for, only to discover the price of this revelation is high.
