Yes. It does give you a ton of eggs. And though I do admit I often go back and forth through the map to complete sidequests, I wasn't expecting to have TWICE the amount of eggs than I have gym badges at the end of one trip through the region. In fact, doing that little trip also taught me that eggs can respawn, which means that me and my awful memory are now going to overthink whether I've already grabbed a wild egg or not... so yeah, eggs.
