I wouldn't worry about any form of misinterpretation. It's cute, 8bit related, and, when it all comes down, your husband would get it for himself, probably because it means something to him x3 if a bunch of (maybe narrow-minded) people read a furry-fandom-relation into this, it's not your husband's problem.
