So im house sitting and dog sitting my friends Corgi, Charlie... And he came in the house yesterday with this baby in his mouth. I panicked thinking she was dead. Her eyes were closed and she wasnt moving.I looked outside for a mother, siblings ANYTHING but there was nothing. I washed her and removed all her fleas. A bout an hour later she opened her eyes and has been clinging to me since. Ive named her Emilie, and decided to keep her, with my parent permission of course. :) (i move out within the next few months anyways ^^)

Unfortunately, I don't have her anymore. Seeing as she was born premature, she would have needed a doctors professional care in order to have survived. I did all I could, and nurtured her like a possum mother would, but sadly she got sick and died on the car ride to the wild animal vet.
If i was to keep her, it would be assumed I would have had t get her shots. It its illegal to own marsupials in California, but hell.... I always break the law
Owning a possum is like having a baby with fur. They cry, they pull hair, they need help being burped, and help going to the bathroom. They need to be monitored while they sleep (they're usually nocturnal) and since they have prehensile tails, they get into alot of things, and hang around. They also should be bathed every other day because they will start to smell like what they eat x_x. They're definitely a hand full, but so worth it.
Possums enjoy a variety of things (never give a juvenile kitten milk..) they like water to drink, and 2% milk. They eat crickets, strawberries, dragonflies and anyother insect. They're known as scavengers, but a healthy possum is an omnivore and will eat small mammals or reptiles in the wild, but sometimes theyve been known to eat cats.
Hope this was helpful! :D
