For the longest time I had a collection of sketches involving Volte in different situations and poses, and one in particular was a sort of a combination between him and Ulquiorra Cifer's Segunda Etapa.
I didn't know if it would work for him, so I scrapped it for many years til, just a few days ago. I have a bit of a non-canon backstory for Volte and this form he gains and wish to provide a full rundown of it.
*************************************************************************
Volte is of course a Boss Monster who was abducted by space pirates shortly before the Monsters of Undertale were sealed behind the barrier. Through his time out there, he's gone through many instances of illegal slavery before ultimately being handed off to GovSect in which the very use of slavery was still (under heavy layers of conditions and binding laws of their making) very much legal.
For a long time it was like this as Volte was conditioned to see this as a normal occurrence in his life, but deep down he yearned to feel freedom despite feeling so wrong to want that.
That is til a bounty hunter under the title Laris Hunter came and set him free.
Now, after researching in his freedom the species of the hunter that did this deed for him, Volte travels to Alazoria seeking a place there to call home. An unfortunate series of hijinks ensues and Volte ends up naked, stranded and lost in the mountainous region. Finding a cave, the gote attempts to rest, only to be met by a mighty draconic being dressed in flowing garb.
Volte thought this was the end for him, til this being introduced himself as Hal-Vorn and after much assessment— he offers up Volte food, warmth, clothing, and shelter...all while asking for nothing in return.
This deeply confused Volte as he is used to this being an exchange for servitude, but Hal-Vorn made it quite clear that Volte is free to go if he feels ready.
But he was taken aback by Volte's acts to provide for him as Hal-Vorn returns each favor. Eventually forming a bond of selfless care between the two.
Hal-Vorn even committed to an act with the purpose of providing Volte protection against all dangers. Hal-Vorn reveals himself as a Fla'ndranite Lord, he explains his abilities and what this state of being meant for his soul. In return Volte told Hal-Vorn much about what he is and what his soul is capable of and incapable of.
Understanding this...Hal-Vorn took his own soul and separated a fragment from it. With his permission, he gave this piece to Volte, fusing it to his.
"Our souls are now linked. From now on, nothing can kill you as long as I live."
Hal-Vorn was absolutely sure he saved Volte for many years to come. He himself was a Fla'ndranite Lord, and last he could recall...the secret to killing one was, is, and remains unknown.
