About Gambit:
Gambit is a Male Pirate Rouge Tabaxi
Gambit was born to a long line of pirates set to inherit his family's ship, The Theseus. At a young age, Gambit witnessed the execution of his uncle, being told by his mother, "This is the price of being caught." From there, Gambit learned to pick pockets and locks, spending his time on the streets, only allowed to come home if he managed to steal enough each night. After his mother's death, Gambit became captain of the Theseus at the ripe age of 22, being the ship's youngest captain. His first mate, a Golith Warlock/Rogue named Iron Whale Back Joe, who had served under both Gambit's mother and grandfather, had high hopes for the young captain. Unfortunately for Gambit, witnessing many family members' deaths due to piracy left Gambit with a deep-seated fear of death and failure, thus leading to 3 years of rather simple odd jobs, never taking on anything risky. This led to murmuring among the crew, and the threat of mutiny slowly grew. In an effort to quell his crew and start proving himself as a worthy successor to The Theseus, Gambit took on a job to steal a cursed gem from a wizard's tower and bring it to the Crownspire. Upon picking up the gem, Gambit became cursed with terrible luck and set off the alarms in the tower. In a panic, Gambit swallowed the gem and escaped the tower, making his way back to his ship, being chased the whole way. Desperately trying to escape their pursuers, Gambit sailed directly into a storm, hoping to throw them off their trail. Lightning struck the main mass, killing their sails as a massive tidal wave knocked Gambit from his ship and claimed his vessel and crew to the bottom of the sea, leaving Gambit to drift to shore. The Campaign began 4 weeks after Gambit lost his crew, meeting his new party in the fruit market.
