Eleanor 1st was the first child of Roland 4, and her reign began on the death of her father in 614, when she became the 8th ruler of the Kingdom of Normania, and the first queen to really reign.
After reigning for 2 years, she was overthrown in 616 by her brother John 3, held captive in the royal palace for 5 years, then freed and decided to live far from the court. A few years later, in 628, when John 3 died without descendants, she wished to retake the throne of Normania, but her youngest and last brother John 4 beat him to it.
Furious, she rose up and seceded from part of the Kingdom of Normania to form the Grand Principality of Libourne, becoming its first sovereign in 629.
The rivalry between these two monarchies dates from this period, and she remained sovereign of the Grand Principality of Libourne until 693, at the ripe old age of 99.
