Summer, Nineteenth Year of the Xin Zhuo Emperor
Morha entered the command tent to see most of the leadership of the Southern Alliance there, including Arshak, Kong, Governor Ce, Governor Wu and King Ji. Everyone turned to the newcomers, but Qing immediately smiled and walked over. The blue long had similarly come out of the battle worse for wear, with an arm bandaged, but she remained fast and responsive.
*Qing* The mušḫuššu uttered.
*I am glad to find you alive, Morha!* The blue dragon hugged her former charge tightly.
The purple dragon returned the embrace. *Same.*
*You've learned a lot during these last few years. I’ve learned a lot as well. Thank you.*
*Thank me?* Morha was momentarily taken aback. *For what?*
Qing broke their hug to look upon the mušḫuššu in admiration. *For standing firm. For taking this gamble. For fighting for your rights. For giving me hope again.* The long smiled. *Everyone saw what you did. You're a great hero, Morha of Babil. Now we have a chance to win.*
Morha blushed slightly as she realized that she had been ranting before a massive audience during the battle, before laughing it off in Tanghua. "Well, if it allows me to get back home quicker, I'll take it."
"I'll do my best to speed things along."
A cough from the king interrupted the conversation.
Morha turned to the others, waiting slightly impatiently. The purple dragon bowed to the king, paying proper deference to her new leader.
“So what now? What is next for the revolution?”
Kong looked at King Ji, and bowed, taking on his role as advisor.
“We strike North straight to Anping. The Imperials will be reeling. They will regroup and raise a new army, but defeat looks bad and it'll be slow. The West has already arisen with us, there are talks with other governors, and the Eluts will take the opportunity to invade the North.”
“If we hit them now, hard and fast, perhaps we can remove the Emperor quickly with less bloodshed and finish this soon.” Governor Ce added.
“Let the will of Heaven quickly reveal itself.” King Ji concluded. “We move out tomorrow.”
Morha nodded.
“Well, good. As much as I'm enjoying my time in Jiangshan, I am eager for this to all be o-”
And then in an instant, everything changed. A deep, resonant howl echoed across the landscape, stunning everyone into silence. As the commanders ran outside the tent, they came upon thousands of similarly alerted soldiers gathering into a large circle in front of the Lion's Head outcropping. Humans, dragons, qilins, guardian lions and oni milled about along the beach in confusion.
“What's going on?” Governor Ce called out.
The crowds parted before their commanders, revealing that the wokou pirates had gathered upon the rock.
“For the future of Jiangshan!” A massively burly human covered in scars responded.
Before anyone else could reply, Vrana herself stormed through the middle of the encampment and ascended the Lion’s Head, a wrapped pole tucked under her shoulder. The cyno looked mangy, her armor bent and damaged from battle, but she wore an unsettling smile and there was a glint in her eye as she stood before the entire Southern Alliance. As Frahat tried to recall why the bundle seemed familiar the wokou leader suddenly unwrapped the gold and jade staff and dramatically raised it into the air.
“Dragons of Jiangshan!” The cyno roared. “I am Vrana Stormcloud of Shendu! I hold in my hand the Great Jade Staff of the Realm!”
Immediately thousands of pairs of reptilian eyes shot over to Vrana, including, Morha noticed with concern, Qing.
The great pale green jade staff- polished to a sheen and capped on both ends in gold, wrought in the shape of the head and claw of a dragon grasping a brilliant blue jade- glistened in the sunlight, clear to anyone watching even li away.
“What is that?” The mušḫuššu asked her companion with increasing apprehension.
The blue long ignored the question.
“The Heavens have put it in my grasp and have thus decided for you all to obey me!” The wokou cyno concluded before raising the Staff of the Realm as high as possible. “Submit to the Will of Heaven!”
There was an awkward silence. Then Ling, still swathed in bandages, lowered her head and knelt.
Then another dragon followed suit, then another, like cascading mahjong tiles.
Then Yu, the brilliant commander and companion of Governor Ce, knelt.
“For the wielder of the Staff of the Heavens, I obey.” He stated simply.
More dragons kotowed, one after the other, a pile of game tiles becoming a wave of the ocean.
“What is going on, Qing?” Morha exclaimed worriedly. Soon a thousand dragons knelt as one before Vrana’s raised staff.
Qing looked at the mušḫuššu and quietly sighed. Then the steadfast Captain of the Guard and commander of the Dragons of the Southern Alliance proceeded to genuflect herself.
"We hear you, and submit, Vrana of Shendu!" The longs chanted in unison, the call echoing across the shoreline. The entire Southern Alliance encampment was thrown into chaos as the powerful dragons kowtowed en mass before the upstart cyno, and everyone else immediately began backing away.
King Ji stood frozen, looking like he had suddenly been stripped of everything by the Heavens.
Morha, Arshak, Frahat and Kong exchanged glances.
Oh shit.
In the eye of this storm, surrounded by a sea of deferential dragons, Vrana smiled.

Ooh, that's interesting. I love those. Reminds me of Mutare from Blade of Armageddon for 3 Heroes 25 years ago. She was also a dragonlord and wore a dragon on her corset and then became one herself, but the goals were despite seemingly good relations with them....
