Contest entry: Ice Cream for Arctic-Sekai
[ (05/24/2025) Number 87 in the 'over 2000 views club']
Contest entry for
arctic-sekai's contest where Ice Cream is the Theme!
Dreamed up 24 hours before the contest deadline and literally submitted six minutes before the contest closed, this entry exploits a suggestion not explored by the other contestants--dancing in ice cream :)
A throwaway comment perhaps, but an angle no one else spotted or figured out how to use. Here, Arctic finds that digitigrade feet (spec'ed on her ref sheet) may not be the best for jumping and stomping around on a semi-liquid surface under hot lights :D-- they sink in as easily as they pull out, heh heh. Oh well, I'm sure that shiny outfit of hers will wipe clean. Getting all that sticky chocolate out of her white fur might take a bit of time, though.
Technical:
-- I used five-fingered hands for the first time since I started drawing anthropomorphic characters (this was illustrated in Arctic's ref sheet, even though not explicitly mentioned).
-- I was going to airbrush shade this, but time constraints meant cell shading. I also dabbled with colored lineart, but scrapped it for the standard black as it makes her stand out from the backdrop more.
-- Time constraints also dictated digital inking of the pencils, done entirely with a straight-line tool in Micrografx Picture Publisher.
-- The original pencils featured her in Daisy Duke shorts, but this was digitally changed to a tight miniskirt, which just sort-of looks better on a dancer :D
-- I had to edit the description on this a couple of times--FA seems to have a bug that leaves out the description field on the edit screen if the title has quotation marks in it. I removed them from the title and went back only to find that the description had vanished entirely. So I rewrote it, including the info I had added below as a comment.
Enjoy--and who gets to lick the bowl later?

Addendum--because the description appears to be locked on this particular submission. (funny, I can edit others)
Just adding that this marks the first time in recent memory drawing five-fingered hands (I was following Arctic's ref sheet).
I can also draw digitigrade feet (again, spec'ed out in the ref sheet), but naturally, you can't see them.
Additionally I should have said "jumping around and stomping on a semi-liquid surface", but as of right now I can't edit the description on this particular pic.
Weird.
