Angel was one of the major characters, and plot points, in the 1983 Canadian animated/science fantasy musical film, Rock and Rule. (aka Ring of Power outside of North America). The character was played by veteran va Susan Roman, best known for being the voice of Sailor Jupiter, for the speaking roles, while Debbie Harry, a vocalist for the band Blondie, provided her voice for the Musical Numbers. The movie, despite being a commercial failure, grossing $30,379 on an $8 million budget, it has developed a cult following status.

In the film Angel is the singer, pianist in a Music Band, along with Omar, Dizzy and Stretch. When Angel performs her romantic ballad to a largely empty crowd, she, or rather her voice, becomes the interest of the film's Antagonist, Mok, who is a legendary rock musician who seeks a very Special Voice that would allow a portal for a powerful demon from another Dimension to come to ours, and after years of searching, he found it in Angel.

Mok then invites the Band to his mansion outside of Ohmtown, and with the help of the Rollerskating Schlepper Brothers, incapacitates the others using with the hypnotic effects of the Edison Balls and takes Angel for himself, after the later rejected joining him and abandon her band, They fly to Nuke York (🙄) where the Summoning is to take place, with Omar and the rest of the band following after knowing what had happened with Angel though they are stopped by a border guard Meanwhile. With the unwitty help of Cinderella (Cindy), sister to the Schlepper Brothers, Angel sneaks through the ventilation where she finds Mok in talks with his computer and learns of his true plans but it warns that the only way to stop the Demon with "One voice, one heart, one song", though it also concludes no one exist that can perform such fit.

Angel escapes with Cindy to Club 666, not knowing the other Schlepper Brothers are on their tail, as Dizzy's aunt bail Omar and the others from jail and tells them of the club. The girls are intercepted and taken to Mok's apartment with the gang following them, but bump into Mok, who uses an impersonator to trick Omar in thinking Angel has fallen for him. To manipulate Angel, he tortures the band with Edison Balls; she gets her compliance and brainwashes the band in making sure they stay out of his way, returning back to Ohmtown. Despite this, his Nuke York Concert ends in disaster due to power failure as the amount of electricity that is required for the summoning is enormous, and after conferring with his computer, he relocates his 2nd summoning to Ohmtown's Power plant, ignoring the concerns whether the actions are taking are good coming from Zip, one of the, but kind hearted and most simpleton, of Schlepper brothers. Angel attempts one last act of resistance, but is overpower by Mok; she is then drugged and later hook up to the Circuit Board.

Once in Ohmtown, Mok carries out the second summoning ritual in the power plant, forcing a shackle Angel to sing. This causes power fluctuations, which hit Ohmtown, and thanks to it, Omar and the others are free from their Brainwash. Still, and knowing all of the mind tricks Mok has pull on them, Omar gives up on the rescue, leaving Dizzy and Stretch to steal a cop car and rescue Angel.


Despite their attempts to crash his concert, this time, the 2nd summoning is a success, opening the Portal and allowing a massive demon to come through. The entity then wrecks havoc and devours some of those present, but before it could take Angel, Omar (after a change of heart) appears and frees her, but is attack by the demon – Zip, sacrifices himself to save Omar. Toad shock of what has has happen to his brother, holds him and after a few words of not being evil, Zip dies in his hands; Angel, now free, sings to banish the Demon but her voice alone is not enough, that's when Omar wakes up and joins her in a duet, becoming one harmonious voice. The Demon recoils from their voices and is banished back to his dimension; Mok then gets is comeuppance as Toad avenges the death of Zip by throwing him down with it it, but not before holding fruitlessly onto the edge, coming too late to realize that "no one" did not meant that the demon could not be stopped, but that "no one voice" could, acting alone, but two voices and two hearts singing as one were needed for the counter-spell. Mok finally falls down the portal as it closes, now trapped on the other side.

The audience goes wild, believing the whole thing to have being part of the concert, Angel and Omar continue to sing triumphantly, with Mylar, the local Ohmtown Nightclub, announcing them as the latest rock band sensation to the roaring cheers of the crowd as the sun shines over Ohmtown.
